While walking around in Istanbul, oftentimes we'd see things that were very foreign to us--like this candy! It kind of looks like gak. Does anyone else remember gak? :)
Anyways, we watched them make it for a while and it was fascinating. They would take one stick and put a color on it, and then with another stick they twisted a different color around it, making a design. They would do this with several different colors, based on how much you paid for. We should have tried it, but we didn't, so I don't know what the consistency or taste is. It looks like it would be sweet and chewy though!
Life is so interesting in other cultures. No one, I don't think, would ever buy candy from a guy off the street in the U.S. What do you think? Would you?
